Backup manager allows to:
1. Backup database table with data separately (as .sql script file - INSERT clause) 2. Restore database table using previously created .sql script file 3. Omit timestamp/rowversion columns 4. Omit identity columns 5. Select top n rows 6. Disable constrains during restoration
This program uses a script written by Narayana Vyas Kondreddi: http://vyaskn.tripod.com
Requiments
System requiments: .NET framework; Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.6 or later
Installation
Download and run BackupManager.msi file.
How it works:
During the execution, the program checks if the specific stored procedure has been installed into current database. Its name is "generate_inserts". If it has not been installed, it's done by the program.
To backup table(s) follow these steps:
1. Run the program; 2. Click the Backup manager button. You will see the Connect form. Enter name or IP address of the Sql Server, username and password. 3. Click the Connect button. When connected you will see the Table backup form. The Database list control contains list of databases on the server you are connected to. Select the database you want to use. From the list of tables select one or more tables you want to backup. Then change the path to where the generated INSERT script will be placed -> click … button. Click the Start backup button. You will be notified of success or failure. The result will be stored in the location specified in the "save to" textbox. Additionally you can double click any table from the list and change table name or owner's name (these options will be used for the process of restoration).
To restore table(s) follow these steps:
1. Click the Restore manager button. You will see the Connect form. Enter name or IP address of the Sql Server, username and password. 2. Click the Connect button. When connected you will see the Restoration form. Select the location in the database where you want to insert backup data. 3. Run Open file dialog box – click … button. Select .sql file with data you want to insert into the table. 4. Select one or several script files you want to execute from the list. You will be notified of success or failure.
